There was a time when the 1whole world had only one language. Everyone used the same words. Then people migrated to the East, and found a 2plain in Shinar. They decided to stay there to live. Then we will be famous. This will keep us together.
When the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, He said, “The people are united, and they all speak the same language. This is only the beginning of what they can do. Now all they plan to do will be possible for them. Let’s go down and confuse their language, so they will not understand each other.”
So the Lord sent them  7everywhere over the earth. And they stopped building the city. That is the place where the Lord confused the language of the whole world, and sent the people everywhere over the earth. That is why it is called Babel.
